Camden: Third vaccine dose recommended for those with compromised immune systems

Third vaccine dose recommended for those with compromised immune systems

(Camden, NJ) – Individuals with moderately to severely compromised immune systems are now eligible to receive a third free dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New Jersey Department of Health. These doses are available throughout Camden County.

With the Delta variant spreading at dangerous levels in many parts of our nation, the CDC now recommends that those with weakened immune systems should get a third dose of whichever series vaccine they had previously – Pfizer or Moderna – at least four weeks after completing their second dose. This includes patients undergoing cancer treatment, those with HIV, and organ transplant recipients. A full list of those recommended for a third dose can be found here.

“We strongly urge those Camden County residents with weakened immune systems to protect themselves and their loved ones by getting this free third dose of the vaccine,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr.

Individuals with questions about a third vaccine dose should talk to their doctor. Caregivers or representatives of immunocompromised individuals can call the New Jersey Vaccine Call Center at 855-568-0545 for additional guidance.
