Candidate Michael J. Silva announces strong fourth quarter fundraising numbers
First time candidate out-raises opponent by a 4 to 1 margin
Newark: Today, Michael J. Silva’s campaign for Newark city council announced that it has raised over $87,000 toward his election effort. Silva beat his opponent by a 4-1 margin on total donations– the largest fundraising total of all candidates seeking election in Newark’s East Ward council race. Silva’s campaign donations from small dollar donors were also significant– outpacing his opponent 19-1. This strong base of grassroots donations will build on the momentum for Silva’s campaign and is a reminder that Silva’s campaign has continued to move full steam ahead. Silva’s campaign was the first to announce their senior campaign leadership team, the first to release an ad about his candidacy, and now is leading all candidates in fundraising efforts during this vital quarter. With the growing momentum of his candidacy, it is easy to see why so many voters are rallying behind Michael Silva’s candidacy.
“I am humbled and grateful to see the amount of support that my campaign has received from the community,” said Michael Silva, candidate for the East Ward councilman. “This campaign isn’t about going through the motions and shaking hands while intending to do nothing in office. It’s about the hard work it’s going to take to win the campaign by winning the trust of the people of this community. And more importantly the harder work it will take to bring this community what it really deserves. I’m the candidate who’s willing to do just that.”
Born and raised in Newark by Portuguese immigrants, Silva learned the importance of faith and community from an early age. These values guided Silva through his successful career in law enforcement. In his law enforcement career, Silva did all he could to help the people who meant the most– the community. He is now running for candidacy to represent the place he is proud to call home.
