Carter Craft Joins Tiffanie Fisher for Hoboken Mayor’s Slate, Rounding Out the Most Experienced Team in Hoboken’s 2025 Council At-Large Election

HOBOKEN, NJ – Carter Craft announced today his candidacy for Hoboken City Council At-Large on the slate of mayoral candidate Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher. With more than 25 years of experience in waterfront planning, community building, and public service, Craft brings a record of collaboration, innovation, and results to the race.

“Hoboken is my home, where my wife, Stephanie, and I are raising our three children, and I’ve seen it change dramatically over the past 21 years,” said Craft. “I am running because we have an opportunity to create a transparent government that works for its residents and make Hoboken the safest and healthiest environment for neighbors and families of all backgrounds.”
Craft wants to ensure all children have safe access to Hoboken’s parks, waterfront, and open spaces, keep Hoboken resilient against flooding and other impacts of climate change, work to ensure housing and living costs—including taxes—don’t price out families or seniors, and put quality of life at the center of every decision.

Carter points to yesterday’s last-minute announcement of further closures on 15th Street as an example of why transparent communication is critical. “Traffic has a huge impact on the health and quality of life of our residents — lengthening commutes, taking time away from families, and worsening air quality. These critical projects need to be managed and communicated in ways that minimize disruption, and we also need to expand access to reliable public transportation so residents are less reliant on cars. As someone who bikes daily through Hoboken, I see this every day.”

“I’m proud to join Tiffanie’s team because we share a vision for safety, resiliency, and residents-first governance." Craft added. "Protecting and strengthening our community is at the center of every decision we make.”

“I’ve known Carter for over a decade — we first met on the Rebuild By Design Community Advisory Group,” Fisher said. “He brings a wealth of experience that directly addresses the needs of our community, along with the same passion I have for protecting and strengthening Hoboken. Carter combines big-picture vision with practical problem-solving and rounds out the most experienced slate in this election, focused on delivering real results for residents.”

Liz Urtecho, former Councilman Dave Mello, and 6th Ward Council candidate Diane Imus added, “We are thrilled to welcome Carter to Team Tiffanie. His experience, focus on residents’ needs, and practical problem-solving make him a perfect fit for our campaign. We look forward to working with him to deliver results for Hoboken.”

Carter is a longtime Hoboken resident, urban planner, and community leader. He co-chaired the Hoboken Rebuild By Design Community Advisory Group, where he was instrumental in securing $230 million in federal funds, working hand-in-hand with the City at the time. He now serves on the city’s Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), along with Tiffanie, the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund Advisory Board, and the Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse board. He is also Chair of the Council of the Community Church of Hoboken, where he first volunteered as a gardener in 2006, a position he fulfills to this day.

Carter has shared his love for the Hudson River with countless residents through volunteer work and boating programs. Shortly after moving to Hoboken in 2004, he volunteered at the Jubilee Center, introducing children to the Hudson River and teaching boating skills, ensuring access to the waterfront for all kids. He believes every child in Hoboken should have the opportunity to engage with the river and that every school should have a Hudson River curriculum.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, Carter has been instrumental in launching environmental, educational, and community organizations across the New York–New Jersey waterfront, including the Waterfront Alliance, Working Harbor Committee, and the New York Harbor School. He currently serves as Senior Economic Policy Officer at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York, cultivating and sharing best practices in water, energy, and the built environment.
