Chairman Currie Statement on GOP Attempt to Silence Rep. Pascrell
TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie is releasing the following statement on reports that Republican members of the House of Representatives are attempting to censure U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) in an attempt to prevent him from speaking out against President Trump:
“New Jersey has known Bill Pascrell as a relentless fighter for the middle class and for our democratic values for a long time, and now the rest of the country is seeing just how lucky we are to have him representing us in Congress,” said Chairman Currie. “No one else in Washington has stood up to President Trump’s corruption and recklessness as forcefully as Congressman Pascrell, and his latest effort to stop the Trump campaign’s abuse of our democracy is another example of his commitment to fighting for what’s right. If I know anything about Bill Pascrell, it’s that he won’t let this laughable attempt to silence his voice stop him for a second and he will always keep doing what needs to be done.”
