CIANJ Statement on Gov. Murphy Signing the FY22 Budget

“Today, Governor Murphy signed into law the largest budget in state history, totaling more than $46.4 billion, indicating New Jersey is awash in cash,” said Anthony Russo, President, Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ). “CIANJ is pleased to see that tax payer relief, aid to businesses through economic recovery funds, a full pension payment and payments toward reducing the state’s debts are included in the FY22 budget. We are disappointed, however, that a direct line of funding to NJ Transit was not included, including funding for the Motor Vehicle Commission, which struggled during the pandemic.  Additionally, money should have been allocated to replenishing the unemployment insurance fund at a time when employers are being asked to contribute at a higher rate.”
