City of Trenton Eases COVID-19 Business Curfew Restrictions
Trenton, N.J. – Mayor W. Reed Gusciora announced that effective today, Feb. 5, 2021, Trenton businesses are no longer required to close at 10:00 p.m. pursuant to changes in state guidelines announced by the Governor’s Office earlier this week.
Governor Phil Murphy’s Executive Order No. 219 increases indoor capacity limits from 25 percent to 35 percent for several businesses, including food and beverage establishments and entertainment and recreational businesses. The Executive Order also lifts the 10:00 p.m. curfew for in-person indoor restaurant service. The prohibition on seating at indoor bar areas remains in effect.
“We intend to follow the state’s guidance and ease our restrictions on Trenton businesses,” said Mayor Gusciora. “However, we are doing all we can to maintain this progress by continuing vaccinations for first responders and high-risk residents, encouraging all Trentonians to register for future phases, and ensuring free testing for all city residents. In the meantime, the best defense against COVID-19 remains wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.”
Previously, all Trenton businesses, including restaurants, bars and convenience stores, had to close at 10:00 p.m. daily. That restriction has now been lifted.
Meanwhile, the City of Trenton is operating Phase 1 closed vaccine sites for first responders, healthcare professionals and individuals with high-risk conditions that make them particularly vulnerable to the virus. All residents interested in the vaccine should reserve a spot on the state portal at covidvaccine.nj.gov or call 855-568-0545. Any residents who need help registering should contact the City Department of Health at (609)-989-3242 or covidvac@trentonnj.org.
The City is still offering free testing for city residents. No registration is required, and tests are administered on a first-come-first-served basis. Residents are encouraged to bring their insurance card if they have one, along with proof of Trenton residency. The next testing sites will be located at the MLK School on 401 Brunswick Ave on Feb. 9 and Feb. 12, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
