Claire Gustafson Wonders What Temporary Means To Donald Norcross
Gustafson wants Keystone XL pipeline flowing and new oil and gas leases issued
COLLINGSWOOD – Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s First Congressional District, Claire Gustafson, said today it was interesting that Congressman Donald Norcross called for a temporary suspension of gas taxes, but she wants to know his definition of temporary.
“While I agree a suspension of gas taxes will provide relief for countless hard-working New Jerseyans, I have to wonder what temporary means to Donald Norcross,” Claire Gustafson said.
“I remember a time when Donald Norcross fully supported the Keystone XL pipeline.” Gustafson added, “Norcross showed that support was temporary as he sat silent when President Biden pulled the plug on the project. Norcross didn’t care that the Laborers International Union of North America called the decision, ‘both insulting and disappointing to the thousands of hard-working members who will lose good-paying, middle-class family-supporting jobs.’”
Gustafson continued, “Norcross should stop repeating his party’s talking points in press releases and admit gas prices were rising before Putin invaded Ukraine. Rather than sitting silent when Biden pulled the plug on the project Norcross should have fought to keep the Keystone XL pipeline flowing. Instead, it was more important for Norcross to side with his friends in the progressive caucus.”
“It is time for Norcross to stop with the platitudes and join me in calling on Biden to reconsider his decision to pull the plug on Keystone XL and to immediately reinstate issuing new oil and gas leases on federal lands.” Gustafson said, “These two steps will put America back on the road to energy independence while providing thousands of good-paying jobs for hard-working Americans.”
