Climate March to Demand Governor Murphy Deny New Pollution Permits

 

Environmentalists and community activists will gather in Trenton for a march and rally calling on Governor Murphy to live up to his own climate goals by rejecting permits for new fossil fuel projects.

The March and Rally for Clean Air and Climate Justice will unite a broad coalition of organizations from across the state, with a focus on the overburdened communities facing new or expanded fossil fuel projects.

WHAT: March and Rally for Clean Air and Climate Justice

WHEN: June 23 at 11:00amWHERE: March from the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial, 200 Barrack St., Trenton arriving at the Statehouse Annex at 11:30am

WHO: Residents living in overburdened communities threatened by new fossil fuel projects, activists and advocates with EmpowerNJ, NJ Environmental Justice Alliance, Ironbound Community Corporation, League of Women Voters of NJ, GreenFaith, and more.

SCHEDULE: Meet on the steps of the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial at 10:30am. At 11:00 the march with music, props, signs and banners will make its way to the Statehouse Annex, where there will be a rally with speakers, chants, art and musical performances in the courtyard. 

Background: The March For Clean Air And Climate Justice will be a critical point of convergence for frontline communities facing toxic power plants, dirty and dangerous pipelines, polluting highway expansion projects, and a disastrous LNG export terminal proposed in South Jersey.

The rally will call on Governor Murphy to use his authority to stop all new fossil fuel projects and uphold his Executive Order to cut climate pollution in half by the end of this decade.
