Communication Workers of America Draws Contrast between Clarke and Webber in Endorsement Announcement

Jefferson Twp., NJ:   26th Legislative District State Assembly candidate Christine Clarke has received yet another union endorsement, this time from the Communication Workers of America (CWA).

The Communications Workers of America represents 700,000 workers in private and public sector employment. CWA members work in telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, health care, public service and education, law enforcement, manufacturing and other fields.

“Clarke has the CWA endorsement because of her genuine values. She ran to support constituents in her District, not to do the bidding of some corporate controlled political boss. She supports equal rights, collective bargaining, public education and services, pension funding, fair taxes, green Jobs and unions. In other words, she’s the opposite of Jay Webber,” said Hetty Rosenstein, Area Director of CWA.

“Having marched and spoken at events alongside CWA leaders in recent years, I am aware of the crucial work they do and honored by this endorsement,” said Clarke. “I look forward to continued partnership as we work to make New Jersey a place where families like ours can grow and thrive. Congratulations to all candidates endorsed!”

Clarke is an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer and mother-of-four running for State Assembly to advance clean energy jobs, protect clean air and water, improve healthcare, and legislate with empathy and fiscal responsibility.  She’s running a clean, issues-focused campaign. Even as a first-time candidate, she has earned the seal of approval from a wide array of organizations including the NJEA and the AFL-CIO, the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, American Federation of Teachers, League of Conservation Voters, New Jersey Sierra Club and more. She is also the only candidate in New Jersey to be endorsed by Vote Mama and by The Center for Biological Diversity, and the only candidate in the Assembly race to have been endorsed by Our Revolution nationally. See the growing list of Clarke’s endorsements here.  She has lived in Jefferson for 15 years with her husband and four children. You can learn more about her at www.clarkeforassembly.com.

The 26th District includes 13 communities in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties: Butler, Fairfield, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Rockaway Township, Verona, West Caldwell, and West Milford.
