Congressman Jeff Van Drew Tours the F.A.A. William J. Hughes Technical Center

(Egg Harbor Township, NJ) – Congressman Jeff Van Drew toured the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. This marks the Congressman’s second tour of the facility, continuing an ongoing dialogue of support for the center. This center is a one of a kind national asset that houses some of the nation’s premier research and development and is essential to national security. The technical center employs over 4,500 people, 3,000 of which are federal employees and contractors, and 1500 of which are employed by tenants which include the United States Coast Guard Air Station, Department of Defense, 177th Fighter Wing, Homeland Security’s unique Federal Air Marshall Training Center, and the National Aviation Research and Technology Park.

“The FAA is a superpower in South Jersey’s economic engine. It is essential that we continue to fight for its funding. Not just for our economy, but also for the security of the nation,” said Congressman Van Drew. “On this tour, we witnessed first hand some of the research and development they do at this facility and not only is it incredible, but it is also unique to this location. There is no other facility like this in the nation. Thank you to Shelley Yak and all of the employees of the tech center.”

Congressman Van Drew was joined by the Assemblymen for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District, Bruce Land and Matt Milam.

“It is obvious that this facility is essential to the success of South Jersey, but it is also essential to the safety of our nation and our skies. I was glad to tour these facilities today with Congressman Van Drew,” said Assemblyman Bruce Land.

“It is great to be here at the FAA Technology Center with Congressman Van Drew to tour the facility and see the incredible work they do here. It is a huge part of the economy in South Jersey and the security of our nation,” said Assemblyman Matt Milam.
