Congressman Kim to Hold Town Hall on Voting Rights

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) announced that he will be holding a telephone town hall on Wednesday, May 23rd at 5:30pm to discuss current efforts to secure and expand voting rights across the country.

Residents of Burlington and Ocean Counties can sign up for the telephone town hall on the Congressman’s website by clicking here.

Congressman Kim will be joined by Tiffany Muller, President and Executive Director of End Citizens United, and Anthony Gutierrez, Executive Director of Common Cause Texas, who will provide further background on efforts to expand voting rights and outline current attacks on those rights at the national and state level.

“Protecting the right to vote is fundamental to our democracy. When we weaken the right to vote, we weaken the fabric of our country,” said Congressman Kim. “I’ve heard a lot from our neighbors in New Jersey about this issue and wanted to bring together a conversation to help people understand why it’s important and how it impacts them. I want to thank Tiffany and Anthony for joining us and look forward to an engaging discussion on this critical topic.”

This month’s town hall comes as the U.S. Supreme Court weighs further attempts to weaken the Voting Rights Act and Congress debates passing H.R. 1 and H.R. 4, which would strengthen voting rights and stop the backslide of voter suppression across the country. From his first month in office, Congressman Kim has been a leader in protecting and expanding voting rights, co-sponsoring both H.R. 1 and H.R. 4.

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Small Business. More information about Congressman Kim can be found on his website by clicking here.
