Congressman Kim Holds August Town Hall in Manalapan
MANALAPAN, N.J. – On Monday, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) held his 66th monthly town hall at the Monmouth County Library-Headquarters in Manalapan, hearing directly from neighbors on issues concerning them and sharing updates about his work in Congress.
Congressman Kim was joined by Manalapan Township Mayor, Susan Cohen. During his August town hall, Congressman Kim spoke about his disappointment in colleagues using their role in Congress to weaponize the National Defense Authorization Act and the Senate confirmation process, betraying servicemembers and creating national security risks. He also spoke about his continued work to support global democracy and Ukraine, how he hopes to address the needs of local farms through the upcoming 2023 Farm Bill, and he discussed the importance of bipartisan cooperation and unity to address our nation’s most pressing challenges.
He answered questions from community members about issues concerning them including immigration reform, Medicare expansion, his work to lower prescription drug costs, the demand for healthcare to cover chemotherapy, local infrastructure investments from the bipartisan infrastructure law, and more. Additional discussions included how to make education more accessible across the country, his continued coordination with state and local officials to address local community needs, rebuilding trust in public officials and government with the help of his Restoring Trust in Public Servants Act, as well as addressing the national debt.
Congressman Kim is the Ranking Member on the Military Personnel Subcommittee, and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
