Congressman Kim Statement on Investigation
into Abuse of Power by the Commander in Chief

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) released the following statement on the vote to investigate reported abuses of power by President Trump to use the power of the Presidency for political gain:

“My vote today is a vote for transparency, accountability and responsibility to the Constitution. The role of Commander in Chief is a sacred duty of the Presidency, and any allegations of abuse of power must be investigated with seriousness and purpose.

My focus remains on fighting for the people of Burlington and Ocean Counties. It’s why this month I introduced bills that would lower health care costs for seniors and empower small businesses to grow, and today I introduced a bipartisan bill to help returning veterans find work. We have to be able to keep addressing the problems on the ground that affect people’s daily lives while we pursue the truth and defend our Democracy.”

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness and as a Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities. Prior to serving in Congress, Congressman Kim served in Afghanistan as Strategic Advisor to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen. Kim went on to serve as Director of Iraq in Obama’s National Security Council where he coordinated the crisis response to countering the rise of ISIS.
