Congressmen Sires Votes in Favor of Reconciliation Bill at Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Markup
Legislation includes funding for highway and rail safety, emergency management, and economic development
(Washington, D.C.) – Last night, Congressmen Albio Sires (NJ-08) voted in favor of passing the portion of the budget reconciliation bill under the jurisdiction of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. As a senior member of the Committee, Congressman Sires voted to help ensure that this section of the bill, which includes funding to improve rail safety, support emergency management, spur economic development, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, was approved to be submitted to the Budget Committee. From there, portions of the reconciliation bill approved by several committees are packaged together and sent to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote.
“With this reconciliation bill, we have a chance to make huge, meaningful investments in our communities, from highway and rail safety to clean drinking water,” said Rep. Sires. “I’m proud to vote in favor of this bill in committee and will continue working with my colleagues in the House of Representatives to ensure that it is passed.”
