Corrado, Stanfield Launch ‘Socks for Soldiers’ Collection Drive to Support Troops
Encourage Schools, Businesses, and Local Governments to Participate
One of the items most often requested by our military men and women serving around the world are new socks, and Senator Kristin M. Corrado and Senator Jean Stanfield are ramping up efforts to fill the need.
“A good pair of clean socks can help improve circulation, stop blisters and prevent infections,” said Corrado (R-40), who is teaming with Stanfield for a month-long “Socks for Soldiers” collection drive for new socks.
“Unworn socks are always in high demand for the troops servicing our nation at home or abroad,” Corrado continued. “Quality socks are not a luxury for our soldiers, they are a necessity. Our sock drive is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices of our volunteer heroes, and show they have support from back home in New Jersey.”
Corrado and Stanfield (R-8) will be collecting sock donations at their district offices throughout the month of March.
Corrado first collected “Socks for Soldiers” during her tenure as Passaic County Clerk, and the campaign has thousands of pairs of socks each year.
“Military members don’t always have access to laundry facilities, and clean socks can be tough to come by,” said Stanfield. “Dirty socks can create problems. We want to keep our soldiers healthy and effective, and this is a great way to help keep them on their toes. For a young man or woman serving far from home, access to new socks can be a difference-maker.”
Donations can be delivered to the Corrado’s 40th District Office at 999 Riverview Dr., Suite 350 in Totowa, or Stanfield’s 8th District Office at 668 Main St., Lumberton.
The senators are also urging schools, businesses, and local governments support the effort by posting collection boxes with a “Socks for Soldiers” sign (print one here).
