Coughlin: APP: “The number crunching in the legislative budget would cause the least harm to the largest number of people.”

In an article published on Friday, the Asbury Park Press highlighted the similarities between the legislature’s state budget and the Governor’s.

The article points out that, “Both plans have much in common: both would fund the same programs at roughly the same levels.”

However, “the number crunching in the legislative budget would cause the least harm to the largest number of people.”

Our state budget includes 95% of what the Governor has asked for. It protects democratic priorities by promoting tax relief and efficiently raising revenues for New Jersey residents.

The article also points out, “Passage of the Trump Tax plan, which punishes New Jersey and other high-income blue states, requires taking a new look at the impact it would have on individuals and on businesses large or small. The legislative leadership has done so. I’m not sure the same can be said of the Murphy administration.”
