County College of Morris Faculty Association Endorses Democratic Candidates for Morris County Commissioner
Randolph, N.J. – Yesterday, at a Fall Festival held on the campus of the County College of Morris (CCM), the school’s faculty association (FACCM) announced their official endorsement of T.C. McCourt, A.J. Oliver, and Dina Mikulka to be Morris County’s next County Commissioners.
This endorsement comes on the heels of months of advocacy for the FACCM by McCourt, Oliver, and Mikulka in the wake of the attempted union-busting by CCM’s President, Dr. Anthony Iacono, in April. Their advocacy and support of the FACCM helped the trio earn the endorsement of the Morris County Council of Education Associations (MCCEA), the local arm of the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). This election is the first time either the MCCEA or the NJEA has endorsed at the county-level in Morris County.
Per Ian Colquhoun, President of the FACCM, this was an easy decision. “T.C., A.J., and Dina have been fighting alongside us, fighting for us, for months. Now, it’s time for the FACCM to return the favor.”
The FACCM and its affiliates will be on the ground over the next six weeks working to spread the news about what’s been happening on the campus of CCM, and how the incumbent County Commissioners have been dangerously silent on the issue.
“Commissioners Smith, Krickus, and Shaw have proven they don’t care about CCM through their inaction and their silence,” said Colquhoun. “The entire CCM community deserves better and, with T.C., A.J. and Dina, we’ll get it.”
McCourt, Oliver, and Mikulka released the following joint statement on news of the endorsement:
“From the very moment we heard about the attempted union-busting going on at CCM, coupled with the decades of neglect by the County Commissioners to step up and fight for this gem of an institution, we knew we had to speak out. It’s been an honor to fight alongside the FACCM, and we’re humbled to have their endorsement. Together, we’re going to make sure as many Morris County voters as possible know what’s been going on under their noses. Together, we’re going to fight to make CCM stronger for all of the outstanding faculty and students that call her home.”
