CRAIG GUY RE-ELECTED TO SERVE AS HUDSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CHAIR

HUDSON COUNTY -- Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Craig Guy was re-elected to another term at Monday night’s reorganization meeting.  Guy was unanimously re-elected through affirmation along with Vice Chair Marielka Diaz, Treasurer Gina Hulings, Recording Secretary Giovanni Ahmad, Corresponding Secretary Dorothy Rutkowski, Sergeant at-arms Mendes Toussaint and Parliamentarian Bill Matsikoudis.

The HCDO reorganization meeting followed the successful primary day elections of the Hudson County Unity Team, a ticket put forward by Chairman Guy and the HCDO representing the true diversity and ever-expanding voices of Hudson County Democrats. Mayors, elected officials, activists and organizers from throughout the county were in attendance, including U.S. Congress members Rob Menendez, Nellie Pou and Lamonica McIver.

Guy released the following statement:

“I am very proud of the hard work and effort put forward by the entirety of our Hudson County Democratic Organization team to arrive at a moment in time where democrats throughout the county have a voice and a seat at the table to present new ideas and viewpoints to help propel us all forward.

Hudson County Democrats were instrumental in Mikie Sherrill’s historic win last year and the results put forward by our Hudson County Unity Team validate the fact that we are on the right path with the right people to take up the important work ahead.

While I am also proud of the strong relationships I’ve been able to forge with leaders throughout the state, understanding how that helps County residents, there is nothing more important than the work we do on the ground each day here at home in Hudson County.

One of the greatest joys has been the true impact we have in people’s lives each day. In my capacity as county chair, I’ve had the opportunity to literally deliver meals to families and listen to the needs of the people we serve. County residents don’t care about internal squabbles or political fights, they want more affordable housing, improved opportunities for working families and protection for our friends and neighbors from the horrific MAGA Republican policies out of Washington.

The work we do is meant to serve the public.  When I was first elected county chair I promised to open up our doors and make sure every democrat felt welcome because that was the best way to fulfill our shared obligation to public service.  While we recognize there is so much more to do, last night’s overwhelming results show that we are on the right track.

Together we are stronger, and we will need every ounce of that strength to restore sanity this November.”
