Craig Guy Receives Endorsement from Hudson County Building Trades
Labor Leaders Cite Guy’s Commitment to Workers’ Rights and Support for Unions
JERSEY CITY, NJ – Democratic candidate for Hudson County Executive Craig Guy is announcing that he has received the endorsement of the Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents numerous local affiliated unions within the county. In making the endorsement, union leaders cite Guy’s long commitment to organized labor and to improving infrastructure throughout the county.
“Craig Guy is far and away the best person for the job and we are proud to stand with him in this election,” said Pat Kelleher, Building Trades President. “Craig has always been a strong advocate for organized labor and we are certain that he will continue to be a champion for working men and women as County Executive. I know that he will work to continue investing in infrastructure here in the county, and using union labor to get the job done right while ensuring that local residents benefit with fair and equitable wages and benefits.”
Working alongside longtime Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise as his Chief of Staff, Guy has ensured that major county projects are built using union labor paying a prevailing wage. This includes the ongoing construction of the Frank J. Guarini Justice Complex in Jersey City, which is employing hundreds of union workers from a variety of trades. As County Executive, Guy will continue to stand with the working men and women of labor.
“As a lifelong resident of Hudson County, I know how integral labor unions are to the fabric of our community and I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Building Trades Council and its President and my close friend Pat Kelleher,” said Craig Guy. “Organized labor is at the core of America’s middle class, and I am committed to standing up for the rights of workers as we continue to move Hudson County forward. That means building on our record of passing project labor agreements and mandating prevailing wage, partnering with the unions on apprenticeship and job training programs, and investing in our infrastructure and affordable housing with union labor.”
Craig Guy has previously been endorsed by leading Democratic elected officials like Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Cory Booker, and all 12 of Hudson County’s Mayors, as well as leadership from the statewide and Hudson County Fraternal Order of Police.
