Cruz-Perez Honored by New Jersey Chamber of Commerce with Legislator of the Year Award

Trenton – Senator Nilsa Cruz-Perez was honored by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce along with three other recipients of their biannual Legislator of the Year Award. Senator Cruz-Perez was recognized for her overall support of the business community, and for her work advancing New Jersey as a more business friendly state, as well as a great place to work and live.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of communities throughout the state,” said Senator Cruz-Perez (D-Camden/Gloucester). “A healthy business district generates economic activity and fosters a sense of community. Since I took public office, I have been committed to making sure storefronts do not sit empty on our main streets, that business owners can make a living in our towns, and that new jobs are being created. To be recognized by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce has overwhelmed me with pride and I am truly grateful for this honor.”

Senator Cruz-Perez serves as chair of the Senate Economic Growth Committee. She has been a staunch advocate for economic development and rehabilitation efforts in her home district of Camden and Gloucester counties. She supported the replenishment of the Transportation Trust Fund, and sponsored legislation supporting Urban Enterprise Zones and Main Street Assistance Programs for small businesses. She is a regular participant on the Walk to Washington, where she welcomes conversations with New Jersey Chamber Members about policy that affects the business community and the state economy.
