Cryan Statement on the U.S. Department of Justice’s Investigation into New Jersey Veterans’ Memorial Homes
Trenton – Senator Joe Cryan issued the following statement on the Department of Justice’s report on the Paramus and Menlo Park Veterans’ Homes:
“Today’s report by the U.S. Department of Justice reflects our worst concerns. The findings suggest that residents continue to face significant deficiencies in their care that put their health and lives at risk.
“I had hoped that our work to date had provided a path forward but it is now clear that we need wholesale changes at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, from the top down. I believe that substantial reform and legislation establishing a new department to manage the Veterans Memorial Homes is the right path forward.”
