(Millville) Cumberland County Democratic Chairman Steve Errickson issued the following challenge today to embattled and censured Freeholder Jack Surrency.

“Today’s disingenuous statement from Jack Surrency is straight out of the Donald Trump playbook; attack on others with outlandish charges and claim to be a victim of attacks when presented with the truth. This is why voters are demanding change from failed, career politicians like him. If Jack were sincere in his statement that his campaign is for truth, accountability, and the hardworking people of Cumberland County, he would answer the following questions:

1) Truth: Why won’t he tell the truth and answer the questions about his residency? Is he living in Cumberland County while falsely claiming to live in an owner occupied residence in Gloucester County while collecting a tax abatement or is he living in Gloucester County and falsely claiming eligibility to serve as a Freeholder in Cumberland County?

2) Accountability: Why won’t Jack hold himself accountable and admit he was wrong when he attacked the integrity of the hardworking men and women of Cumberland County even when he was presented with overwhelming evidence demonstrating his statements were false and malicious? He was given the opportunity to admit his statements were wrong and yet, he refused.

3) For The People of Cumberland: If your campaign is really about the hardworking people of Cumberland County, why is your campaign relying on the services of someone who has a documented track record of taking money designated for South Jersey and funneling it to corrupt North Jersey politicians?

Jack, you are not fighting against power.

The truth is You squandered your time as a Freeholder by spending your time building relationships in Cape May County to support a failed run for Congress. You have held and lost multiple taxpayers funded jobs because you simply were not up to the tasks.

The only power you are chasing now is your own because you were rejected by the rank and file Democrats after you turned your back on them to pursue new relationships outside our borders.

It is time to hold yourself accountable. Failure to answer these basic questions proves your words are empty, regurgitated campaign rhetoric.”
