Curtis Bashaw to Campaign with Anti-Choice Republicans at High-Dollar Washington Fundraiser

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Wednesday, September 11th, Curtis Bashaw will campaign with anti-choice extremist Senators at a high-dollar fundraiser in Washington, showing New Jersey voters his true colors on reproductive freedom.

“When it comes to reproductive rights, Curtis Bashaw can’t be trusted,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “It’s not about what he says, it’s about who he surrounds himself with. These extreme Republicans are backing Bashaw because they know he’ll rubber stamp their agenda. New Jersey voters deserve someone who will fight for them and not an out-of-touch agenda.”

Bashaw will appear with NRSC Chairman Senator Steve Daines and Senators Rick Scott, Tommy Tuberville, and Ted Budd. All four GOP Senators signed onto an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, cosponsored legislation that would ban abortion after 20 weeks and hold providers criminally responsible, and voted against protecting IVF treatment nationally. Senators Daines, Scott, and Budd signed onto an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to restrict access to abortion pills, while Senator Tuberville blocked military promotions over the Department of Defense’s abortion policies.

“There’s only one candidate in this race that New Jerseyans can trust to defend reproductive freedoms and stand up for access to lifesaving healthcare, and that’s Andy Kim,” said Kaitlyn Wojtowicz, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey. “New Jersey voters are fired up to stand up for our essential rights, and we’re going to make sure Curtis Bashaw and his anti-choice backers are soundly defeated this November.”

As a member of Congress, Andy Kim has been a consistent advocate for reproductive freedoms, receiving endorsements from Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Reproductive Freedom For All. These endorsements come after Kim co-sponsored and voted for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify the reproductive rights of women across the U.S.; co-sponsored and voted for the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would bar states from restricting any woman’s ability to travel out of state to receive abortion care; and co-sponsored and voted for the Right to Contraception Act, to ensure everyone has the right to choose if and when to start a family on their terms.

As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan.

Andy went on to win a congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding Republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for Senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
