Dangerous Woodland Park Intersection Will Be Overhauled With Sherrill-Secured Funding

Passaic County, NJ– Representative Sherrill (NJ-11) secured critical federal funding to reconstruct the McBride Avenue and Browertown Road intersection in Woodland Park. This precarious intersection links residents with the downtown area and three local schools and serves as a connection to US Route 46 and I-80, two major roadways that accommodate thousands of drivers each day in northern New Jersey.

This federal funding will help build a roundabout to enhance traffic safety and provide new pedestrian access. This grant is one of the 14 Community Projects the Congresswoman submitted on behalf of NJ-11 through the House Appropriations Committee Fiscal Year 2023 bill.

“Any driver or pedestrian who’s traveled through this intersection can attest it is confusing, and at times dangerous. With this federal funding I secured, we are making much needed infrastructure updates to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and open up better access to businesses throughout the county,” said Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill. “Thank you to the Passaic County Commissioners and Mayor Kazmark for submitting and advocating for this project. This roundabout is an investment that will have a positive impact on families in the area for generations to come.”

“The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners would like to thank Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for her support in the McBride Avenue Roundabout Project in Passaic County. said Passaic County Commissioner Director Pat Lepore. With the funding support of $1.2 million, the County will be able to complete its project goal of constructing a mini-roundabout at an intersection of two heavily used county roads connecting to both US 46 and I-80. The implementation of this round-about will provide safer and easier transportation access to drivers.”

“The McBride Avenue Roundabout project will create a safer intersection, provide better access to our business district, and eliminate cut through traffic in the Dowling Estates neighborhood.  We are incredibly grateful to Congresswoman Sherrill for her tireless support of this project which will be a significant improvement to our quality of life in Woodland Park,” said Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark.
