‘TAX HIKE MIKE’: MONTVALE MAYOR MIKE GHASSALI

HAS A HISTORY OF RAISING TAXES

Tax Rates Higher Under Ghassali’s Reign

This is the second cycle in a row that “Tax Hike Mike” Ghassali has publicly flirted with throwing his hat in the ring to take on Congressman Josh Gottheimer in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District, that consistency hasn’t yet matched his steady record of raising taxes in Montvale.

“Tax Hike Mike” Ghassali was elected in 2015, and records from 2015 to 2018 show that his budgets have raised taxes on Montvale residents. Since Ghassali has taken office, Montvale’s budgets have steadily increased the amount the borough has taken in through municipal taxes by close to half a million dollars in total.

“It couldn’t be clearer that North Jersey families need a fighter in Congress who will work with both parties to lower taxes, restore the SALT deduction and claw dollars back to the district — not someone who hasn’t met a tax hike he hasn’t liked,” said DCCC spokesperson Christine Bennett. “New Jersey taxpayers can’t afford ‘Tax Hike Mike’ on top of the Tax Hike Bill that tossed out the SALT deduction last year.”
