Judge Bottinelli’s Addition Marks Another Senior Member in the
DeCotiis Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group

PARAMUS – May 3, 2022 – DeCotiis, Fitzpatrick, Cole & Giblin, LLP, is pleased to announce the addition of the Honorable Terry P. Bottinelli, J.S.C. (Ret.) as a partner and senior member of the DeCotiis Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice group. In this capacity, Judge Bottinelli is focused on resolving matrimonial and other disputes more quickly and efficiently than can be accomplished through traditional litigation in the courts.

“My litigation experience includes securing groundbreaking settlements that have improved the lives of communities here in New Jersey and across the country. In acknowledging the challenges that traditional litigation presents, I am enthusiastic about Alternative Dispute Resolution and the team here at DeCotiis,” Judge Bottinelli said. “As a former judge, my clients will know that they are in good hands.”

Judge Bottinelli was first appointed to the bench as a Municipal Court Judge in 1993 and elevated to the Superior Court in 2011 where he served in the Family Part presiding over thousands of matrimonial cases involving complex issues such as custody and parenting time, spousal support, equitable distribution and the like.

DeCotiis Co-Managing Partners Joseph M. DeCotiis and Michael R. DeCotiis welcome him, “A well-accomplished attorney and respected Judge, Judge Bottinelli is a tremendous asset to the firm. We are eager to expand our Alternative Dispute Resolution expertise for our clients under his leadership.”

The firm’s ADR Practice Group is comprised of a diverse group of attorneys who focus their practices in various areas of litigation, as well as corporate, labor and employment, real estate, construction, environmental and healthcare law. They include trial and transactional lawyers, former judges, a court-appointed mediator and arbitrator.

The ADR practice area encompasses mediation, arbitration and other creative alternatives to formal legal proceedings. The attorneys in the ADR Practice Group develop sophisticated strategies for conflict management and resolution by placing an early and comprehensive focus on the business and personal relationships, transaction details, and other relevant factors that have contributed to a dispute. An effective resolution through ADR should uphold the rights of all parties, meet their objectives, preserve relationships, and avoid the time and expense associated with traditional litigation.

The goal of ADR is to allow parties to work toward a voluntary, consensual agreement, avoiding the litigation and trial process. ADR also allows a form for creative solutions that best fit the needs of both parties.
