Dem Candidates Must Stand With Union Members, Denounce LaPlaca
The following is a statement from Mike Ditzel, Current Undersheriff and candidate for Burlington County Sheriff:
When I saw the photo of Democratic Assembly candidate Gina LaPlaca bragging about crossing the picket line during the 2016 Verizon strike, I was shocked at her lack of regard for working men and women. As union leaders themselves, Sheriff candidate Anthony Basantis and Freeholder Dan O’Connell know the importance of standing up for the rights of rank-and-file union members. However, they have stayed silent on this egregious slap in the face to their union brothers and sisters. Today I ask Basantis and O’Connell to not only speak up on LaPlaca’s betrayal, but they should also call on the unions who have endorsed LaPlaca to revisit that decision.
