DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES FOR EVESHAM TOWNSHIP MAYOR AND COUNCIL ANNOUNCED
Sunday, April 1, 2018 – The Evesham Township Democratic Party announced its candidates for the 2018 Mayoral and Council race.
Jaclyn (Jackie) Veasy is running for Mayor of Evesham Township. Heather Cooper and Patricia (Pat) Hansen are running for two seats on the Evesham Township Council.
A lifelong resident of Evesham Township, Jackie Veasy is a Seniors Claims Adjuster at a national insurance company and an active member of the community.
Jackie is running for Mayor out of civic and community pride as well as a strong sense of duty to give back to the town in which she and her family have grown up. Jackie often jokes that she likes to do everything within Evesham’s borders — she was born, raised and still lives in Evesham, works in Evesham and gives back through her church and community service in Evesham.
For the past decade Jackie has served as a committee member for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Marlton as part of a team of volunteers organizing and running the annual fundraising event, held at Cherokee High School. Jackie is an active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish, where she serves as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister and teaches religious education with her mother.
Heather Cooper, a passionate and active community member, has spent her entire career working with and on behalf of people who experience disabilities. Currently a Resource & Development Director for a local nonprofit organization, Heather is simultaneously pursuing her Executive Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. A married mother of two children who attend elementary school in Evesham Township, Heather has developed active community partnerships by volunteering her time both in Marlton and throughout Burlington County.
Pat Hansen is a retired Human Resources Assignment Specialist with a lifetime of experience bridging the workplace gap between employees and managers. Pat worked for Amtrak in the Philadelphia area for 41 years, starting in reservations and working her way up to serve as a liaison between management and more than 6,000 union employees in the Northeast. Pat and her partner have lived in Evesham for 29 years. Since retiring three years ago, Pat has turned toward community service, volunteering to drive seniors, making and donating art through the Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey, building and fixing trails at the Black Run Preserve, and engaging in community and civic meetings around town.
Veasy, Cooper and Hansen are seeking office because they love Marlton and recognize that it’s time for new leadership and a fresh perspective in their township. They believe in growth and progress based on community input and are dedicated to preserving our historical and community-oriented identity. They understand the importance of ensuring that Evesham is on the right fiscal path, making it easier for families and seniors to remain lifelong residents. Veasy, Cooper and Hanson commit to using their position as public servants to improve Evesham’s quality of life for each and every resident.
