Mike Testa Smears Stockton University, Makes Unfounded Claims About Election Rigging Against Two Veterans

(Cape May, NJ) – On October 24th, Stockton University’s William J. Hughes Polling Institute released a poll done by the university showing Senator Sergeant Bob Andrzejczak leading Mike Testa in the 1st Legislative District race for State Senate by over 13 points. Assemblyman Matt Milam and Assemblyman Bruce Land also led on their opponents, Erik Simonsen and Antwan McCllellan by five points each.

Mike Testa’s response was to call the non-partisan institution a purveyor of “fake news,” and claimed on Facebook that it was all part of a playbook to steal the election.

“I lost my leg fighting for our country in Iraq” said Senator Sergeant Bob Andrzejczak. “As a member of the U.S. Army, I fought every day for our democracy, for the right of citizens to have fair and free elections, unmarred by any interference. It’s deeply offensive to our entire team that our opponent would so lightly make a claim that we are trying to steal or meddle with an election.”

“Bob and I both earned the bronze star with valor for our actions on the battlefield. We both know what it’s like to risk everything for this country and our values.” said Assemblyman Captain Bruce Land. “These sort of statements are factless fear-mongering. The people of Legislative District 1 should hold our elected officials to a higher standard.”

“I’ve been down in the polls in previous elections, including in polls from Stockton,” said Assemblyman Matt Milam. “The way you counteract a bad poll is to get out there and work even harder to get your message out to the voters, not by condemning the University. What Team Testa is doing by slandering Stockton and the William J. Hughes Institute is shameful.”

“Mike Testa’s campaign is grasping at straws, saying anything they can to distract from the fact that voters have rejected him outright because of his team’s record of hiking taxes and fees. If Mike Testa’s campaign actually thought this poll was fake news they’d release their internal polling to back up their claim” said campaign manager Sam Rivers, adding “it’s deeply irresponsible for him to be sowing fears about an election being stolen election. There is absolutely no basis for that claim.”

Stockton university’s William J. Hughes Polling Institute has been putting out non-partisan public policy related polls since 2008. Their most recent poll which showed Senator Bob Andrzejczak leading by 13 points had a sample of 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of +/- 4.4%. Their
