Denise Thornton is Endorsed by Randolph Township Council Candidates Carey, Veech, and Hathaway – Team of Four Working to Build a Better Randolph for Everyone

RANDOLPH, N.J., September 3, 2024 – Mayor Chris Carey, Councilwoman Joanne Veech, and Deputy Mayor Joe Hathaway, incumbents running for re-election to the Randolph Township Council, are endorsing Denise Thornton, a current councilwoman who was appointed to fill a vacated council seat in May. The four candidates will be on the ballot November 5th for the four available Randolph Township Council seats. Carey, Veech, and Hathaway are each seeking a four-year term. Thornton is running to serve the remaining two years of former councilmember Marie Potter’s unexpired term.

The team of experienced incumbents has a proven track record of results and is poised to build on their past successes of delivering effective, well-managed government. With a combination of long-term experience and new perspectives, the team of Carey, Veech, Hathaway and Thornton is focused on:
• Continuing all the good work they have been doing to make Randolph a place that everyone is proud to call home
• Keeping the safety of all Randolph residents a top priority
• Minimizing municipal tax increases
• Delivering reliable, high quality municipal services
• Providing world class recreation and award-winning parks and trails
• Expanding transparency, communication, and community outreach
• Building a strong business community

Mayor Christine Carey has been working on behalf of the residents of Randolph as a member of the Township Council since 2013 and is currently serving her third term as Mayor, including a term in 2020 when she led the township through the COVID pandemic. Carey feels that “Denise has been an excellent addition to the council. Her commitment to our community is evidenced by her history of volunteering and aligns perfectly with the council’s focus on making Randolph a place that everyone is proud to call home.”

Councilwoman Joanne Veech has served on the Randolph Township Council since 2011, including a stint as Mayor in 2015. During that time, she has spearheaded many successful initiatives such as the development of the Community Garden in Veterans Community Park. Veech views Thornton’s extensive experience in law enforcement and emergency services as “a great addition to the Township Council which prioritizes the safety of Randolph residents above all else.”

Deputy Mayor Joe Hathaway has been serving on the Township Council since 2022. As the father of two pre-school children, Hathaway brings a unique perspective to the council and has been focused on preserving the quality of life residents enjoy in Randolph for the next generation. Hathaway was “happy to welcome Denise to the council earlier this year as another council member with a young family who brings new energy and new ideas with her.”

Denise Thornton affirmed, “I am grateful to serve on the Randolph Township Council. My background, education, volunteerism and profession have put me in a position to bring solid representation for the Randolph community; safety and service come naturally. As a council member, I will continue to prioritize the safety of all residents. I will continue to promote a conservative budget and continue to support the progress already achieved by the council. I will listen and act on the concerns of individual residents, business owners and organizations. My goal is to continue to make Randolph the best place to live, work, raise a family and retire. I love this town and would be honored to continue to serve on the Township Council. I thank the team of Carey, Veech and Hathaway for their endorsement.”
