Diegnan Issues Statement on Legislation Mandating Comprehensive Disclosure and Transparency Requirements for Civil Asset Forfeiture Becoming Law

Trenton – Senator Patrick Diegnan has issued the following statement on the singing of his legislation mandating comprehensive disclosure and transparency requirements for the system of civil asset forfeiture:

“This legislation brings transparency and fairness to the process,” said Senator Patrick Diegnan (D-Middlesex). “Although asset forfeiture is a valuable law enforcement tool, it should only be utilized as a tool against those who knowingly violate the law.”
