HIGHLAND LAKES, NJ—Door-to-Door Democracy (D2DD), the grassroots canvassing organization dedicated to restoring competitive democracy in New Jersey’s red counties, today announced its endorsement of Rebecca Bennett for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.

D2DD was founded on the belief that democracy only works when voters have a real choice, and that meaningful change happens neighbor by neighbor, door by door. In Rebecca Bennett, we see a candidate who shares that same ground-up spirit. A GRASSROOTS MISSION, A GRASSROOTS CANDIDATE

D2DD knocks on doors in communities that political campaigns often ignore: rural and suburban pockets of New Jersey, where Republican control has gone unchallenged for too long. We know what happens when voters have no real choice: their tax dollars are mismanaged, and their voices go unheard.

Rebecca Bennett grew up understanding service over self and country over party. She didn’t wait for someone else to step up; she earned a ROTC scholarship, studied engineering at Cornell, and chose to fly helicopters because, as she says, she likes to do hard things. That’s the same instinct that drives every volunteer who walks a precinct for D2DD: the belief that showing up, literally and figuratively, is how change gets made.

MILITARY EXPERIENCE BUILT FOR THIS MOMENT

America is facing challenges on multiple fronts, abroad and at home, and the voters of NJ-7 deserve a representative who has actually operated under pressure. Rebecca Bennett flew the

MH-60 Seahawk for the U.S. Navy, graduated from flight school at the top of her class, and was selected as the only MH-60S pilot in her class to attend the elite Naval Test Pilot School, going on to serve as only the 18th female test pilot in the history of the Navy. She served for over 15 years in the armed forces and remains an officer in the Air National Guard.

In difficult times, experience matters. Leadership under fire matters. Rebecca has made life-or-death decisions in the cockpit; she understands what it means to protect the people counting on you. That’s the kind of steady, tested leadership that Congress desperately needs, and that NJ-7 has not had recently.

FLIPPING NJ-7: WHY IT MATTERS

New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District is one of the most competitive in the nation, and one of the most important. Currently held by a Republican, NJ-7 is a must-win for Democrats to reclaim the House in 2026. D2DD knows this district. We have knocked on thousands of its doors. We know that the people here want affordable healthcare, good schools, and a government that works for working families.

Research consistently shows that competitive districts where elected officials actually have to fight for votes deliver better outcomes for residents. Tax dollars flow more equitably. Representatives are more responsive. Government actually functions. That is what we are fighting for in NJ-7, and that is why electing Rebecca Bennett is bigger than any single race.
