Dover Council Member Karol Ruiz Endorses Patricia Campos-Medina for Senate in NJ

Califon, N.J.—Today, Dover Council Member from the Third Ward Karol Ruiz endorsed Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina for U.S. Senate. Campos-Medina has been endorsed by a growing list of progressive New Jersey leaders including, former Mayor of Perth Amboy Wilda Diaz, former New Jersey Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer, and Oceanport Democratic Organization Municipal Chairman Mike Sikand.

“Patricia understands just how critical it is that Latin Americans in New Jersey have a seat at the table when decisions are being made,” said Ruiz. “She’s spent her career building political power for working families, Latin Americans, and immigrants. At a time when immigration and Latinx political power in our national politics are being scapegoated, we need leaders like Patricia who won’t back down when things get hard and continue to fight on the issues that matter most to our families.”

“I am incredibly grateful to have Karol’s endorsement and am so proud of the leader she has become in Morris County,” said Dr. Campos-Medina. “To win this race, we are going to need to show people the version of politics in our state we want to see—progressive, just, and inclusive—is possible. With Karol’s help, I believe we will continue bringing people into the fold and, together, fighting for a better New Jersey.

Campos-Medina has made her record as an advocate for working people and Latina women representation central to her campaign. She recently announced her support for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, tying her call for peace to her harrowing experience living through civil war in El Salvador as a child. In a video announcing her campaign, Campos-Medina shares her inspiring journey as a Latina immigrant woman and as someone who intimately understands how issues like the economy and jobs, war, immigration policy and economic community investment impact the daily lives of countless New Jerseyans and their loved ones.
