Downey Praises Child Care Tuition Assistance Program to Assist Families Impacted by COVID-19

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Joann Downey (D-Monmouth), chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee, released the following statement applauding the recently announced child care tuition assistance program through the New Jersey Department of Human Services to help families with children on remote learning schedules:

“Most schools in New Jersey are operating on a hybrid or fully remote schedule due to COVID-19. While some parents are fortunate enough to have jobs that allow them to work remotely while their children are home, many parents – including essential workers – don’t have that luxury. Some are navigating child care options and their associated costs for the first time.

“DHS’s child care tuition assistance program will help parents secure quality care for their children, enabling them to work and support their families during these challenging times. I encourage all eligible families to apply.”

Families can apply for assistance at www.ChildCareNJ.gov.
