DR. DARCELLA PATTERSON SESSOMES ANNOUNCES RUN FOR PLAINFIELD CITY COUNCIL

She will run with the support of the Union County Democratic Organization

(APRIL 11, 2023–PLAINFIELD, NJ): Formally announcing her candidacy seeking the Democratic nomination for Plainfield City Council. Dr. Sessomes will go head-to-head with Sean McKenna, who currently holds the 2nd ward seat.

Dr. Sessomes serves as the Chief of the Division of Programs and Reintegration Services at the New Jersey Department of Corrections and is President and CEO of Sessomes and Associates Consulting Firm, which advocates for economic equity for marginalized women and other vulnerable and underprivileged people, ensuring they “have a seat at the table.” At her campaign kick-off, Sessomes vowed to be a uniter, proclaiming passionately, “We can no longer keep Plainfield divided. It stands in the way of real progress, and I won’t stand for it..”

Sessomes, who holds four college degrees, is a Plainfield native and resident since 1997, has been involved in numerous community service projects, served as treasurer for the local Girl Scout Troop, coached Plainfield recreation soccer, and served as the Plainfield Police Domestic Violence Response team coordinator, considers herself a “real one.” “I come from humble beginnings and recognize not only the opportunities given to me but those I have fought for with the scars to serve as a reminder,” said Sessomes.

“I am honored to run for the 2nd ward seat, our city needs dedicated and diverse leadership, and we will work hard to earn the trust of those we wish to represent. The city has made great strides, and by working together, we can continue to keep Plainfield First.”

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
