DUNELLEN BEING ADDED TO NJ MOTION PICTURE AND TELEVISION COMMISSION CATALOG

Dunellen, NJ – In the coming weeks, the Borough of Dunellen will be welcoming the New Jersey Department of State’s NJ Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTC) to photograph and catalog representative images of the Borough for the purpose of including Dunellen in their catalog of potential filming locations in New Jersey, joining municipalities such as Cranford, Flemington, Metuchen, Morristown, Somerville and Westfield. Mayor Jason Cilento shared, “This presents a great opportunity for Dunellen to not only be recognized beyond our State, but serves as another way to support the small business atmosphere we treasure in our downtown – if the Borough is chosen for a production, these teams will rent space, shop and dine in downtown Dunellen.” He continued, “I know we will all work together to welcome the NJMPTC team in Dunellen, not only for this cataloging endeavor, but future ones as well.”

The NJMPTC is a resource for the film and television industry. The Commission provides, “critical information on permits, regulations and insurance requirements; helps with the scouting of locations and production services and maintains a comprehensive photo and informational databases to further this effort; offers guidance on child labor laws, tax laws, theatrical firearms and pyrotechnical laws, and environmental regulations; assists in the procurement of available financial incentives; and liaises between production companies and all agencies of government and the private sector in order to assure that your experience working in New Jersey is pleasant, productive and cost efficient.” (Source: On Location In New Jersey, NJMPTC 2020, https://www.nj.gov/state/njfilm/assets/pdf/NJMPTC-brochure-2020.pdf) The photograph catalog is broken into categories such as cities, suburbs, farmland, Jersey Shore and the Pine Barrens.

There is no cost to Dunellen for this service or to be listed in NJMPTC’s catalog. While it is expected and planned for NJMPTC to be taking pictures in Dunellen soon, if you are concerned about public safety please do not hesitate to contact the Dunellen Police Department at (732) 968-3000, or, for emergencies, dial 911.
