Dunellen Mayor Jason F. Cilento Announces Re-Election Bid

DUNELLEN, N.J. – Today, incumbent Jason F. Cilento announced his intention to seek a second term as Mayor, and officially launched his 2023 re-election campaign.

Mayor Jason F. Cilento released a statement following the announcement:

“Serving the residents of Dunellen as Mayor has been an incredible honor and a privilege,” said Cilento. “I am excited for the opportunity ahead to continue delivering common sense solutions, leading by example, and engaging with our neighbors and businesses all across the Miracle Mile. Dunellen is a shining example for the state, where people always come first and where they can count on responsible governance and quality constituent services.”

First elected to Dunellen’s Borough Council at the age of 20, Cilento served in that position for nine years, was elected as Council President in 2019, and was sworn-in to his first term as Mayor on January 1, 2020. Cilento guided Dunellen through the COVID-19 pandemic, Dunellen’s fire house burning, and the recovery from Hurricane Ida. He led the efforts to obtain over $2.1M in grants for the Borough, and has focused on infrastructure, redevelopment, enhanced communications, and environmental initiatives.

“Since beginning my first term, I have worked with the Borough Council to make our community a desirable place to live, work, shop, and dine. Together we have been able to secure critical investments for the economic development and revitalization of our downtown, develop practical ordinances to enhance the beauty and aesthetics of our residential neighborhoods, and directly address the impacts of flooding in a smart and environmentally conscious way,” continued Cilento. “I am proud of the work we have done and look forward to the job ahead.”
