Dunellen’s Future Together Team Announce Council Slate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                       April 14, 2024

DUNELLEN – Today, the Dunellen’s Future Together Team officially announced their 2024 Borough Council slate, incumbent and current Council President Terri Albertson and longtime Dunellen resident and current Fire Department Chief William ‘Bill’ Scott.

Teresa “Terri” Albertson has been an active, prominent member of the Dunellen community since 2004. Community involvement has always been a part of Terri’s DNA, from her early days as a Girl Scout to later becoming a Girl Scout Leader. Upon moving to Dunellen, she quickly invested her time and talent into the Dunellen community, becoming a familiar face around town through her involvement as being involved in the Friends of the Dunellen Public Library, former Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Dunellen Municipal Alliance, member of the Carol Fund, and President of the Dunellen Senior Club. In addition, Terri spent her career shaping the minds of our youth as an educator, having retired from Dunellen High School in 2018 before being sworn-in on the Borough Council in 2022, now serving as the Council President.

“I am thrilled to be seeking re-election for a second term on the Borough Council. It has been a privilege to work alongside Mayor Cilento and fellow Council Members to deliver for our constituents.” Terri continued, “We have made great progress in the areas of road improvements, traffic and pedestrian safety measures, grant opportunities and highlighting Dunellen as a welcoming and inclusive community for all.” She concluded, “I am proud to run alongside Bill Scott for Borough Council, as he has worked to rebuild the Dunellen Fire Department through its fire house rebuild and membership drive. Together, I know we can continue the successes we have seen and also implement new ideas such as developing a communications strategic plan for Dunellen.”

Having graduated from Dunellen High School in the 90’s, Bill Scott has since spent his professional and volunteer career serving in emergency services. During the day, Bill works at Rutgers University as the Chief of Emergency Services, a role he worked his way up since beginning at Rutgers in 1999. Volunteering his time in Dunellen he has served in both volunteer emergency service agencies; Dunellen Rescue Squad and the Dunellen Fire Department. Bill’s leadership and 33 years of service to the department has led him to serve as Chief of the Dunellen Fire Department on multiple occasions including this year as he works to help rebuild the fire house and increase the department’s membership.

“As a council member, I hope to bring both my professional and volunteer experience in emergency services to the Borough Council and assist in how we make decisions that will impact the community for years to come,” Bill continued, “I have seen the dedication that the Dunellen’s Future Together Team has brought to Dunellen and how they have helped shape a better future for our Miracle Mile and I wish to be a part of these efforts.” He concluded, “Terri has been an inspirational leader in Dunellen for many years now and I am happy to stand alongside her this election season.”

Mayor Jason F. Cilento proudly endorsed both candidates, “Council President Terri Albertson and Bill Scott are the ideal ticket.” He continued, “Both candidates bring so much to the table between their years of public service; Terri has served the community as both an educator at Dunellen High School and other volunteer positions, to now serving on council the past three years, and Bill Scott serving Dunellen in emergency services from Rescue Squad to decades of service on the fire department.” Cilento added, “We need them both on Borough Council to continue the success we have had as a cohesive team in paving more than half of Dunellen’s roadway, received millions in grants and have made great strides in revitalizing downtown Dunellen.”

Albertson and Scott received the full endorsement of the Dunellen Republican Municipal Committee at their last meeting. GOP Chairman Harry Buttito Jr. added, “Terri and Bill are the great candidates for all of Dunellen residents and they will represent the residents well at Borough Hall. Although Republicans, I know and have faith that they will work to earn every single vote from Democrat to Republican to Independent. They are not here for party-politics, they are here for Dunellen. I look forward to working closely with them on the campaign trail in the coming months.”
