Durr Stands With Commissioners-Elect Konawel And DeSilvio, No Attendance At Chamber Of Commerce Events

Durr also wants fair reporting from local media

LOGAN TOWNSHIP – State Senator-Elect Ed Durr is refusing to attend the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce’s 20th Annual State of the County Breakfast until Lisa Carney, the Chamber’s immediate past chair and executive committee member, apologizes and resigns from the executive committee over race-based attacks on GCGOP and Commissioners-Elect Chris Konawel and Nick DeSilvio.

At issue is the Gloucester County Chamber of Chamber’s immediate past chair has, over two years, repeatedly attacked Commissioner-Elect DeSilvio and last month, before blocking members of GCGOP from her social media accounts, stepped up those attacks to include the Gloucester County Republican organization and Commissioner-Elect Konawel.

“Less than a month ago our party chair, Jacci Vigilante, demanded an apology from the Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Committee member over her social media attacks and that apology hasn’t come. Because of this I was surprised to receive an invitation to the Chamber’s event,” state Senator-Elect Ed Durr said. “I will stand with my party and our Commissioners-Elect and not attend any Chamber event until that apology comes.”

Durr continued, “I am extremely disappointed in local media. They were quick to come after me with news vans parked in front of my house over old tweets. Ms. Carney’s race-based attacks on our party and Commissioners-Elect DeSilvio and Konawel are current and they are giving her, a person in a position of authority, a free pass. I guess it doesn’t fit their narrative.”

“And, let’s not forget the other story local media are ignoring. The Democrat-controlled Gloucester County government is making moves to segregate the county’s first African-American Sheriff from administrative staff and not one word from the local press,” Durr added, “Mistreatment of a Black Republican by Democrats obviously doesn’t fit the media or Carney’s narrative, so they ignore it.”

“Two things need to happen immediately,” Durr said. “Local media needs to start being fair in their reporting and Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member, Lisa Carney, needs to issue a public apology to Gloucester County GOP and Commissioners-Elect Konawel and DeSilvio if they want me to accept any of their invitations.”
