EMILYs List Endorses Sue Altman for
Election to New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Sue Altman for election to New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. EMILYs List Interim President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Sue Altman has spent her life serving the people of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, and the impact of her work has changed countless lives. Now, she’s ready to continue that work in Congress — and EMILYs List is thrilled to support her. Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. is an anti-choice extremist who has tried to undermine Garden Staters’ reproductive rights at every turn, and we know Altman is the leader who can get the district back on track, fight for our freedoms, and will never back down.”

Sue Altman is nonprofit executive director, former educator, and proud lifelong community member of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Altman grew up attending the district’s public schools and went on to earn degrees from Columbia University and Oxford University in the U.K. After graduating, she became a teacher and basketball coach, mentoring and investing in the lives of the state’s young people. She was the executive director of New Jersey Working Families Alliance, which exists to fight political corruption, ensure financial accountability in government, and make New Jersey a just and more equitable place for all. Altman now lives in Lambertville, New Jersey.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
