ENDORSEMENT STATEMENT OF TROY OSWALD

Today, I, Troy Oswald, stand with confidence and pride to endorse my lifelong friend Sheriff Jerry Speziale for the continued service of Passaic County. There is no greater urgency than the safety of our communities, and amidst rising crime trends, we need proven leadership that can make a tangible difference. Jerry is not just an extraordinary sheriff; he’s a visionary for a safer Passaic County.

Throughout my tenure as Chief of the Paterson Police Department, I had the distinct honor of working closely with Jerry. Our collaboration was pivotal in reducing crime and rooting out corruption within our police ranks. Sheriff Speziale’s relentless drive to enforce law and order was evident when together, we dismantled violent criminal networks that plagued our streets and rigorously investigated security threats facing our city and county.

I recall the times Sheriff Speziale and I worked side by side — long before I was Chief — tackling some of the most complex and dangerous cases that confronted Paterson and Passaic County. It’s those moments that are etched in my mind, affirming his commitment to public safety, his unwavering resolve, and his unmatched expertise.

The late Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik served with honor, and it’s in his memory and legacy that we acknowledge the responsibility of maintaining and elevating the nstandards of public safety he set. With solemn respect, I extend my gratitude to the Berdnik family for their sacrifices and service.

In these challenging times, it is crucial that we set aside partisan divisions and focus on what truly matters – the safety and well-being of the people of Passaic County. To carry on the legacy of dedication and hard work, we need leaders like Sheriff Jerry Speziale, who has demonstrated time and again his ability to rise above politics for the greater good. Now is not the time for political games or maneuvers; it is the time to unite behind proven leadership and put the people of Passaic County first.

Now, as we look forward, it is not merely about endorsing a candidate. It’s about reinforcing a fortress against crime and unrest. It’s about skillful investigators and dedicated officers. It’s about invoking unity and quelling fear. That is why my former running mates, Mason Maher and Alex Cruz, stand firmly with me to support Sheriff Speziale as we march toward the Primary Election on June 4, 2024, and then onward to victory in the General election on November 5, 2024.

We are all committed, along with the community leaders and concerned citizens, to supporting the entire team of Sean Duffy, Derya Taskin, and Pedro Liranzo for Passaic County Commissioners. United, we stand for a mission beyond politics — a commitment to every resident’s well-being, safety, and security.

I now call upon our collective and individual supporters who have supported us in the past and continue to do so extend their support to the entire Team Speziale.
