Equality Haus: New Brunswick launches with a Shade-Free Halloween Dance Party for the QTPoC and LGBTQIA+ community of Central Jersey.
(New Brunswick, NJ) – On Sunday, September 24th at 2 PM EST, Equality Haus: New Brunswick launches their Shade-Free Halloween Dance Party for the QTPoC & LGBTQIA+ community. Equality Haus: New Brunswick is a new community-building initiative that creates & curates healing, uplifting, and connective experiences for QTPoC and LGBTQIA+ folx. Equality Haus is led by wellness professional, Alistair Williams, featured in the New York Times as one of the most motivational trainers of New York City.
“Shade-free is our aim to keep our experiences as judgment-free as possible. I want Equality Haus to be a safer social scene in order for us to show up as the best versions of ourselves. Believe me, I’m human with blind spots and judgmental opinions of my own. However, I want our culture to be full of positive energy that keeps us unified. Shade-free is our reminder to maintain a culture of grace.”
Equality Haus: New Brunswick is a division of FuncSoul. FuncSoul provides wellness programming & resources to corporate groups, universities, & non-profits. FuncSoul’s current and former partners include Google, Spotify, Dropbox, Etsy, Rutgers University, New York University, Washington State University, Sanctuary for Families, TransTech Social, JobPath, and more.
The shade-free Halloween event on Sunday, September 24th at 2 PM EST begins with an open mic. After the open mic, the event turns into an exciting dance party with activities available for non-dancers. A virtual option will be available for the disabled and those unable to participate in person. Registration allows participants to pay what they can for general admission (free to $50). Sponsorship, donation, and volunteer opportunities are also available.
Alistair launched Equality Haus: New Brunswick out of his own personal desire to build a community for himself in the Central Jersey area. Equality Haus: New Brunswick is part of his vision for the “new church”.
“I grew up and worked in the church. For me, church is simply a community healing, growing, & practicing positive values together. Though I am no longer religious, I miss having a space to join with community and feel a little more human through genuine expression & connection. I believe that so many people, especially QTPoC & LGBTQ+ folx, can use a safer space without attachment to any dogma other than equality and grace. Equality Haus: New Brunswick provides that safer space in a non-traditional and exciting way. Community is the new church.”
Equality Haus: New Brunswick’s Shade-Free Halloween Dance Party is on Sunday, September 24th at 2 PM EST, and will be held at Ale ‘N’ Wich, 246 Hamilton St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. To learn more or register, visit funcsoul.com/equalityhaus.
