EXECUTIVE WOMEN OF NEW JERSEY OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR ITS ANNUAL GRADUATE MERIT AWARD PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP FOR NEW JERSEY WOMEN PURSUING ADVANCED DEGREES

Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ) is now accepting applications for its 2023 Graduate Merit Award Program. This annual scholarship is awarded to remarkable women who are non-traditional graduate students attending New Jersey colleges and universities. EWNJ defines ‘non-traditional’ as a student who returns to their studies several years after receiving an undergraduate degree; a student who may have completed their undergraduate degree at a later date; a student who changed careers and is returning to school to retool their career; or a student who comes from a non-traditional educational or socioeconomic background. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2023.

“Education is one of the strongest predictors of career success, and too often, women seeking a degree find the financial burden too significant. We want to help women with strong potential lower systemic barriers and make sure they are seen and supported by a network of empathetic women who have been in their shoes,” stated Courtney McCormick, Esq., President of EWNJ and Senior Vice President – Audit, Enterprise Risk & Compliance at PSEG. “EWNJ’s fundamental mission is identifying and removing hurdles that have traditionally kept women out of leadership positions. Our Graduate Merit Award Program helps offset the cost of tuition so they can focus on their degrees and careers.”

To date, EWNJ’s Graduate Merit Award Program has provided over $1.3 million in tuition assistance to nearly 350 women attending New Jersey colleges and universities.

“EWNJ takes pride in providing financial support to women seeking an advanced degree at a New Jersey university, especially during the current economic uncertainty. The Graduate Merit Award Program provides the necessary financial boost many women need to become leaders in their field. We are excited to meet this year’s applicants and look forward to the awards ceremony later this year,” shared Marianne DeAlessi, DNP, RN, Chair of the EWNJ Scholarship Committee and Lead Healthcare Consultant at DeAlessi Enterprises.

EWNJ’s Graduate Merit Award Program scholarships are only provided to students who are pursuing advanced degrees at New Jersey universities or colleges. The average scholarship amount is $5,000. EWNJ scholarship recipients will be announced in the fall. To apply, visit www.ewnj.org/scholarship.
