Felician Nursing Students Author Chapters in New eBook on Mental Health Teaching Strategies

RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University is taking its experiential education model to the publishing world after three Felician nursing students authored chapters in a new eBook “The Self-Care Mosaic: Teaching Strategies to Optimize Health and Well-Being.”

Authors Melissa Baker (DNP), Kerry Dziomba (MSN), and Kim Rosales (DNP), following completion of nursing informatics course NURS 705 at Felician, wrote three chapters on self-care practices with oversight from Dr. Daria Waszak. Dr. Waszak, associate dean and assistant professor in the School of Nursing, also acted as editor for the eBook. “The Self-Care Mosaic,” available for free on Apple Books, explores strategies for teaching self-care across three different topics. The first installment of its book series, the eBook will be updated with new editions, including new self-care strategies, each January.

The eBook’s multimedia format, which includes videos, external links, illustrations, and more, allows readers to engage in a more comprehensive learning experience.

“I am proud to share that these three nursing students have now added “author” to their list of accomplishments at Felician University,” said Dr. Waszak. “The process has been a collaborative and impactful way for students to experience multimedia dissemination of their own work to a wider audience.”

Felician University is proud to contribute its experiential learning model in an accessible eBook form to benefit educators across the country. “The Self-Care Mosaic: Teaching Strategies to Optimize Health and Well-Being” is accessible from any Apple device.
