Felician University Board of Trustees Member Honored

 

Felician University congratulates Trustee Charlene Brown, President of AT&T New Jersey, for being named the 2020 recipient of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s Caren Franzini Leadership Award.

 

Brown serves as the telecommunications company’s government affairs executive and implements the company’s philanthropic initiatives and public policy.

 

The NJBIA award honors the legacy of Caren Franzini, the longtime CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority who died in 2017, and is given to individuals who empower others in the business world and community to achieve professional excellence. Charlene earned her BA in Journalism and English from Douglass College and received a Master’s in Public Administration from Rutgers University. She began her career as a reporter for the Elizabeth Journal and the Asbury Park Press before serving for nearly 10 years as Press Secretary for the New Jersey Department of Human Services. In addition to serving on Felician’s Board of Trustees, Charlene is the board chair of the research organization New Jersey PRO, secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Drumthwacket Foundation and serves on the boards of the New Jersey Tech Council, the NJ Society for Environmental, Economic Development (NJ SEED), the NJ Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, the NJ Council on Innovation, and the NJ Commission on Science, Technology, and Innovation.
