|HAINESPORT, NJ – April 30, 2020 – David Richter, Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District, announced today that he has received the endorsement of former Mayor Tony Porto of Hainesport Township in Burlington County who, until he dropped out of the race last month for health reasons, was also seeking the Republican nomination to run against freshman Democratic Rep. Andy Kim.
“Today, I proudly endorse David Richter for Congress. As our nation faces many daunting challenges, I am certain David’s business experience and conservative principles will help America see better days ahead,” said Porto.
“David is the most qualified Republican candidate for Congress. His plans for tax relief and economic growth will benefit Burlington County in many ways. That is why I stand with David Richter for Congress in the Republican primary and this November. With David as our candidate, Nancy Pelosi’s days as Speaker are numbered,” Porto added.
Porto was elected to four terms on the Hainesport Township Committee and twice served as the township’s Mayor. He also served as Hainesport’s Republican Municipal Chairman.
“I very much appreciate Tony’s endorsement and I look forward to earning even more support in Hainesport and throughout Burlington County as the primary campaign moves forward,” said Richter.
Richter is the former CEO of global construction management firm Hill International. During his time at the company, Hill grew from a struggling family business with less than 300 employees into a successful public company with more than 4,300 employees. A lifelong Republican, Richter grew up in and has spent most of his life living and working in the Third District. He earned two bachelor’s degrees and a law degree from Penn as well as master’s degrees from Oxford and Harvard. Richter and his wife Michelle, who have been married for 20 years, are the parents of four daughters.
