Former Governor Jim Florio Endorses Amy Kennedy for Congress
Brigantine, NJ – Today Amy Kennedy was endorsed by former New Jersey Governor James Florio. During his tenure from 1990 to 1994, Governor Florio led New Jersey out of a recession and took on the NRA by enacting one of the nation’s stiffest assault weapons bans.
“As a former teacher who’s participated in active shooter training, Amy understands what’s at stake if we do not pass gun reform laws,” said Governor Florio. “Amy will fight for the common-sense safety measures supported by the American public: universal background checks, keeping firearms out of the hands of abusers, and closing gun sale loopholes. Jeff Van Drew has proven he’s more concerned with his political career than improving the lives of South Jerseyans and has chosen to take the side of President Trump and the NRA over his constituents. I look forward to seeing the positive change Amy brings to our state and our community.”
“Governor Florio is part of a long line of strong Democratic leaders in New Jersey, and it is an honor to receive his support,” said Amy Kennedy, candidate for New Jersey’s Second Congressional District. “Now more than ever leadership matters, integrity matters and having a member of Congress who will fight for the people of South Jersey matters. In Congress, I’ll always be committed to service and fighting for the needs of our community.”
