FORMER LEGISLATOR/’MAYOR OF CANNABIS’ SCOTT RUDDER OPENS TOWNSHIP GREEN DISPENSARY IN RIVERSIDE

Local Business Will Employ Approximately 20, Aims To Help Revitalize Downtown

RIVERSIDE – With local officials and dignitaries on hand, including State Senator Troy Singleton and Riverside Mayor Corey Kimble, Township Green held its grand opening today amid a celebratory atmosphere in downtown Riverside. The only dispensary in Riverside, Township Green is also the closest dispensary to Northern Philadelphia, located less than seven miles from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge.

“We want Township Green to serve as an example of how to create a sense of community within the cannabis industry,” said Township Green owner and operator Scott Rudder. “For us, it’s not just about providing a great product. We want Riverside and surrounding towns to feel comfortable here and feel like Township Green is a positive member of the community.”

“When we talk about starting a cannabis business in New Jersey, we are talking about what Scott and Township Green have done in Riverside,” said State Senator Troy Singleton. “Scott is focusing on creating opportunities to revitalize a downtown, hiring local residents, and giving back to communities. This is exactly what advocates for legalization had in mind.”

A former Republican Mayor, Assemblyman, and Veteran, Rudder has dedicated nearly the last decade of his life to the legalization and entrepreneurial expansion of medical and adult-use cannabis. He founded the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association in 2016 to serve as the state’s premiere cannabis trade industry association. Rudder helped organize and was a top consultant to statewide campaigns to legalize cannabis in New Jersey in 2020. NJ.com dubbed Rudder the “Mayor of Cannabis” in 2020.

Rudder opened Township Green as part of a commitment to help revitalize and bring additional foot traffic and customers to the downtown business district. The dispensary will employ approximately 20 people, with the majority of them being local residents, some of whom can walk to work. Township Green’s Chief of Security is the retired Riverside Chief of Police and several of the security personnel for the dispensary are local firefighters.

Township Green’s location was previously a dilapidated, run-down building when Rudder first purchased it. Over the last five months, Rudder and members of the Township Green team transformed it into a first-class facility aimed at providing a sense of community and enhancing customer experience.
