FORMER TV NEWSCASTER ALEX ZDAN ENDS U.S. SENATE CAMPAIGN

HAMILTON – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Alex Zdan announced today that he is withdrawing from the race for the Senate seat currently held by indicted Democratic Senator Bob Menendez.

“Yesterday, marked the end of the embarrassing saga of the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate to replace the disgraced “Gold Bar” Bob Menendez, and it is time for party unity on the Republican side,” said Alex Zdan. “While I am incredibly proud to have received so much support from people looking for a new voice in Washington and to have received the endorsements of Monmouth and Passaic Counties, I believe it is best to avoid a long contentious and expensive primary, denying our eventual Senate nominee ten valuable weeks to party build, organize support throughout the state, and explain to the voters why it is time to send a republican to the U.S. Senate for the first time in decades.”

Formally entering the race on February 9, the Zdan for Senate campaign quickly became a top contender, organizing grassroots support, competing at conventions, and winning two key counties. The campaign’s upset win in Monmouth County on February 29 radically shifted the Senate primary political landscape. The support of the Passaic County Regular Republican Organization on March 7 meant the campaign was able to compete statewide.

“This campaign focused on the issues that impact every American, border security, fighting corruption, standing strong against the Chinese Communist Party, and protecting parental rights. I plan to stay very involved in New Jersey politics because I believe Washington and New Jersey are broken, and we need leaders willing to stand up for authentic conservative principles, helping our party win races, and proving that New Jersey is not a permanently blue state.”
