International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) NJ hosted its annual reorganization meeting. IPMA-HR NJ is a professional organization of public-sector Human Resources professionals that live and work throughout the State of New Jersey. We are the Garden State’s chapter of an international organization dedicated to advancing the public sector Human Resource profession.

Joe Forte was elected President of the Chapter. A career Civil Servant, Mr. Forte is currently an Administrative Analyst in the Office of Diversity and Compliance with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL). Joe was previously employed with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission in the Office of Diversity Programs. Joe holds a Master of Public Administration and a certificate in Strategic Communications from Rutgers University. In addition, Mr. Forte has a Master of Science degree from Northeastern University in International Affairs and completed a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University.

Mr. Forte thanked outgoing President, Mr. Anthony Gatto, for his years of service as President, having previously served in 2015-2016, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022.

“I thank the outgoing executive team for an outstanding job this past year. One of this year’s top priorities is to expand upon our diversity and inclusion initiatives as an organization. It is important to encourage those to serve in public service and to create a more diverse pool of talented and qualified individuals that reflects the diversity of New Jersey,” said Forte. “This will be done by providing training to our members, hosting events, and building upon our relationships throughout the state. We are grateful for our partnerships with state, county, and local governments, especially with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission under the strong leadership of Chair Webster Cobb. I am looking forward to the year ahead.”

This past program year, IPMA-HR NJ hosted serval programs such as a fall one-day virtual summit, holiday and summer socials, and co-chaired a successful Eastern Region Training. Our next initiative will be planning a one-day conference in the Spring of 2023 and bringing back the Lunch and Learn series.
